Types of Designer and Decorative Glass Beads

Almost all of us are familiar with glass beads, as it is a popular term that we keep on hearing time and again. If we break this word and then read it, its meaning would become much clear to us. The word glass means a hard and transparent object while the word bead refers to a small piece of glass, wood, etc., which is strung in a series on a thread, or so, to form beautiful adornments. Thus, we can say that glass beads are the beads that are fabricated from glass and are used to design fascinating and fashionable jewelry items.

As now we get acquainted with glass beads, let's talk about the designer and decorative glass beads and their types. The contemporary forms of these glass beads are acclaimed with the prefixes like designer, decorative, fashionable, fancy, and so. The emergence of designer and decorative glass beads has revolutionized the ornament industry. Nowadays, these beads are used in almost all types of designer jewelry. The decorative glass beads jewelry is quite in vogue, and it is getting fame and admiration the world over. So, let's learn more about some popular types of decorative glass beads:

1) Frog Beads: This variety of decorative glass beads is greatly inspired by nature and the animals found in it. This design is perfect for those who have a fascination for animals. These beads are also good for decoration purpose, and are available in various styles like frog sitting on a lily pad, jumping frog, and even a dancing frog. The various types of glasses that are used for the fabrication of these beads include venetian, handmade, lamp-work, and furnace glasses.

2) Flower Beads: As the name suggests, these beads resemble a flower. Like flowers, they are also very colorful, lively, and beautiful. Because of their flower shape, these beads are comparatively delicate and need careful handling. They are mainly used in jewelry items like necklaces and bracelets. The common types of flowers that are approximated through these designer beads include lily, acorns, ivy, and sweet pea.

3) Heart Beads: These beads are crafted in a medley of designs, patterns, and colors, by dexterous and proficient bead artists. The shape of these beads, as is also clear from their name, corresponds to the shape of a heart. These beads are usually found in vibrant colors, and witness great demand on occasions like Valentine's Day. The popular types of glasses that are used for manufacturing them include dichroic, furnace, frosted, fused, and blown glasses.

4) Round Beads: These beads are no less than the pearls, in appearance. They possess a shimmering look due to their round shape, and can be used for embellishing a multitude of jewelry items. These beads can be used in a combination with several other types and varieties of beads for the fabrication of splendid necklaces, bracelets, and other such jewelry. The beauty and elegance of these beads entirely depends upon the creativity and proficiency of the artisan.

5) Butterfly Beads: These beads are enticing and endearing by their very nature. The reason being, they resemble one of the most beautiful creatures found in nature, i.e., the butterfly. These astonishing beads are found in a multiplicity of designs, patterns, vibrant colors, and styles. As they possess a lot of intricate patterns and details, they require extensive expertise and artistry on the part of the bead artist. These beads are usually fabricated from Czech, Venetian, Indian, and Chinese glasses.

The beads that are mentioned above, give a general idea about the nature and type of the contemporary decorative glass beads that are available at present. But, there are a lot more types of facts associated with the above beads that are not mentioned here due to paucity of space and time. Indeed, there are a large number and types of glass beads, besides the above-mentioned beads. You might be feeling curious to see and know about them. If so, then enter the glittering and sparkling world of magnificent glass beads through Glass Beads Manufacturers.

The Must See list:

I had to go over the river and through the woods almost to Grandmother's house (figuratively speaking), but I finally made it out to see The September Issue, thankfully, while it was still September.

This movie is a MUST see for anyone who works in fashion or has a desire to.  As someone who works quite a bit with magazines, I cannot help but to have so many thoughts and opinions about this movie, both positive and negative. I will only share 2 of the positive ones here on this blog:

1.) Grace Coddington always has been and always will be a humble genius
2.) Ladytron on the soundtrack is equally genius

Next up on the must see list is 'Coco, before Chanel':  Sure to be as genius and as badass as Coco Chanel herself...

I Fell In Love...

...With This Right Away.

It's amazing. Super, super pretty. Ticks every box. I want!

The Beautiful Ordinary

She oozes brilliance.

The Brownlow Medal 2009.

I've been busy as of late so I haven't had the chance to update on the few events that have occured in the past few days.

One being the 2009 Brownlow Medal count on Monday evening. Congratulations Gary Ablett Jnr! Well deserved and I'm completely happy with the outcome.

Now onto the most exciting part of the evening, (apart from the hot footballers in suits), the best and worst in the fashion stakes...

Here are the results...

Best Dressed: Lauren Phillips, girlfriend of Gary Ablett.

Gorgeous.
Simple with a beautiful statement necklace. Perfect choice.

Second Favourite: Felicity Percival, fiance of Tom Harley.

This dress would make anyone feel like a princess.
(I couldn't find the perfect picture to show it off, so this had to do).

Best Bare Back: Nadia Coppolino, girlfriend of Jimmy Bartel.

I love the twisted one shoulder on this dress.
So elegant.

Most Over-Rated But Nice Dress: Rebecca Twigley, girlfriend of Chris Judd.

J'Aton created a lovely dress for her, however she's far too over-rated for me to care.

Expected A Little More: Alex Davis, girlfriend of Scott Pendlebury.

She's a stunning girl, yet it's too thigh high and more suited to (gag) Angelina Jolie.

Worst Date: Nathan Brown with Mieke Buchan.

Enough of the cheesy grim.

Kill Me Now: Geoffrey Edelsten with Brynne Gordon.

Yes, we can tell you got your outfit in Vegas.
So grosse.

Almost There: Stephanie Wakefield, girlfriend of Brendan Goddard.

I like the top half - belt included, it just goes downhill waist down.
I'm not a fan of those ruffles.

Pyjamas Would Have Been A Better Choice, Lovely: Alex Fevola, wife of Brendan Fevola.

So, so bad.
Her and her husband should have stayed at home.

I Wish I Were Her: Georgia Clarke, girlfriend of Andrew Mackie.

My favourite man in the AFL. He's super gorgeous.
She's a pretty girl but I'm definately not a fan of the red dress or her hair do.
Way too American Prom.

The Geelong boys sprucing themselves up.
My favourites being Joel Selwood (left), Andrew Mackie (centre, back) and Tom Harley (far right).

The Brownlow sure was interesting! Cats for the win in the Grand Final?

Extra, Extra! Newsstand Alert!!!

Essence magazine October 2009 issue. Mary J. Blige graces the October cover. My work graces page 44: Beauty Strands hair story. A quick little one page story where I did the makeup and Dana Gibbs did the hair (I also did the "At What Cost" Video with her). The 'bob' hairstyle is featured 5 different ways and makeup was matched accordingly. Remember our model Adaora? Well here she is....

Favourite Scene Ever.

Taken from 90210's 'One Party Can Ruin Your Summer' episode. Absolutely adorable, as I've mentioned in posts before.

Annnd, my most adored part of the entire season...

His jaw-line is simply to die for!

In Bloom.

I've never been much of a flower girl, until now. The thought of receiving a bunch of gorgeous flowers hasn't been something I regarded as super romantic - it still isn't, but I have learned to appreciate the underlined beauty. Especially the large, bright, pretty ones.

New York Fashion Week S/S '10: A Story in Several Parts

I don't work Fashion Weeks as much as I used to...I enjoy doing them, but, I often times book other work that can have scheduling conflicts, but I like going back to the Tents whenever I can, to get a glimpse, a feel and inspirations for the editorial seasons to come. I held initially for 16 shows this season in New York and confirmed 14 of those. But, anyone that has worked fashion week can tell you, its quite volatile as far as scheduling is concerned. Add to that that Mercury yet again, went into Retrograde (It feels like its lived there this entire year, but, thats another story...) some other scheduling conflicts and other last minute editorial shoots (December issues haven't all closed yet), and that number got reduced even further to about half. What is to follow is a light documentation of my time backstage this season, told in several parts...

Isaac Mizrahi: New York Fashion Week S/S 2010 Pt. IV

I closed my last show with Tom Pechaux where he created a look of matte, matte skin and matte, matte fluorescent lips for the Isaac Mizrahi show. Kind of genius! What a great way to spend the last day of NYFW...

The hair and makeup reference board @ Mizrahi

Yulia @ Isaac Mizrahi

Karolin @ Isaac Mizrahi

There goes that pulled back hair again...(trend alert...)

Irina finally runway ready...I had to start her makeup while she was in hair and start her lips at her rack. I finished them in lineup right before she went out...

Seeing Sienna Double?

Although she's pretty much ripped off Sienna Miller's entire outfit, Olivia Palermo manages to look really cute in this sweet, casual, summer ensemble.

Maybe I'll have to steal this hot look too?

90210.

While 90210 is still utterly brilliant, it's not the same without Ethan and his pretty face.

...Although, the permanent addition of Liam is the perfect distraction.
