Dressing Up for an Interview

Flawless grooming is the very first step towards a prospective job as the dressing style speak a lot about one's personality. Thus, one needs to be extra cautious while dressing up for an interview. Here are few tips which can come handy before a job interview.

Step 1
The first step is to confirm whether or not the company follows a dress code. You can call up the receptionist or the secretary of the firm and get first hand information on how the company expects their employees to dress.

Step 2
The location or the work environment is an important aspect to consider, the dressing style would vary according to it only. If you have to work in a library located in a strip mall then sweaters and slacks would make a nice choice, but if its a corporate office then a suave business suit would definitely be the perfect dress to wear. One can go for pantsuit teamed up with sweater or blouse for an informal office.

Step 3
Shoes make an integral part of the entire dress and your overall appearance hence, it should not be neglected at all. Closed-toe shoes, pumps or loafers should be the ultimate options to choose from. Fancy sandals and stilettos should be avoided at all cost. In case you are wearing a skirt, make sure you wear nylons with it.

Step 4
There are certain dress items which strictly don't stand a place in the professional environment. Miniskirts, close fitted sweaters or t-shirts, sloppy overalls are a big no-no for office purposes. Make sure you look smart and chic rather than sleazy and casual on the very first meeting.

Step 5
Closely check your dress for holes, tears, stains, scuffs or wrinkles as any of these obviously do not make a good impression.

Step 6
One has to be very careful with make up for interviews. Make up should be carried as minimal as possible besides jewelry too needs to be avoided. A trendy hot lip color or a fancy nose ring can cost you your dream job. Excessive use of hair spray and perfume should also be avoided.

Step 7
Your hair, nails, hems and the shine on the shoes should be impeccable. A little carelessness on these areas can skip you from appearing as an impressive personality across the interview desk.

Step 8
Make sure that you carry a smart briefcase or portfolio rather than an oversized put-everything-inside handbag. A casual all purpose bag gives a very disorganized feel to the overall appearance.

21st Birthday Cocktails.

A few of my friends and I at one of my closest friends 21st birthday celebrations back in January.
Yummy yummy cocktails.

One of my friends said, "We look so Sex and the City".

I'm wearing a Bec & Bridge dress, Pilgrim blazer + Forever New shoes.
Oh, that's me on the very left.

don't you just hate when you let that guy who's a 9.99 slip right through your fingers?
that stranger who you know would fit perfectly in your life.

i wonder why it happens?
why they fall straight through?
is it fate?
are you supposed to spontaneously meet again like the first time?
is it just a teaser?
a lesson to make you more confident?
to deal with 'these' situations - when your words are taken away by their perfection?
to make your head fill with thoughts that keep you awake at night?
thinking about all of the 'what if's'?

if for even one second he's thought about you too?

Deep.

I do not care what car you drive. where you live. if you know someone who knows someone. if your clothes are cutting edge. if your trust fund is unlimited. if you are A-list B-list or never heard of you list. i only care about the words that flutter from your mind. they are the only thing you truly own. the only thing i will remember you by. i will not fall in love with your bones and skin. i will not fall in love with the places you have been. i will not fall in love with anything but the words that flutter from your extraordinary mind. -

Carousel de Beaute...

Sometimes you just have to say yes when a booker sends you a girl as special as Kristina K. You know that the opportunity to shoot them again is going to be slim, more likely ebbing on the side of none. At 16, she's already shot for Japanese Vogue and Calvin Klein. A week after we had the opportunity to shoot her, her agency made her Conde Nast exclusive...

Kristina K.'s agency polaroids

We knew going into it that we wouldn't have enough time to shoot her for hours on end but fun could be had nonetheless...We spent a few hours together and had a bit of playtime before she had to run off to have a casting with superstylist Katie Grand.

and other girlie accoutrements...

I'll update with these images on my website soon, but for now, peep some behind the scenes coverage...

Skirts are for women and trousers for men. Jewelry for women and armor for men. Right? But haven't Scot men been wearing skirts as a traditional wear for ages? Didn't men in history wear rings? Peachy Keen.

I have a feeling I've posted this outfit before, but I'm so taken away by the soft pink colour. It's almost like fairy floss. Trust Whitney to pull together such a gorgeous look! Even though I'm not a total fan of the white pants, all of the colours go really well together, the shoes are cute and she looks incredible.

I need to go shopping to fill my wardrobe up with cute items!

This weeks weather has been perfect. Almost 30 degrees every day.
Stay away autumn, we're better off without you.

Trendy Fashion Wraps

Fashion wraps have emerged from the traditional wraps only. A bit of modifications here and there, and you have a new style of wraps. Some of the very popular fashion wraps are shawls, stoles, and scarves. Some of the popular styles in wraps are : beaded wraps, net woven wraps, crochet wraps, lace stoles, silk shawls, cotton wraps, neck wraps, head wraps, full torso wraps and much more.

These basic wrap accessories can give a new look every time a property is altered. A change in the fabric, in the shape, design, pattern, decorative work, anything. Each of these can when changed, give a new look to the wrap. Also how one uses it with the dress also effects the way the whole look of the wrap comes out to be. The worldwide fashion industry has been constantly applying a traditional clothing for different uses and therefore each time leading to a new trend.

Have a look at the following images that give an idea of how a simple wrap can be very different when sewed out of a new fabric, with new kind of a decorative work.

Me. Him.

This so reminds me of "him". The boy who occupies my mind. It's the most frustrating thing.
He' so evil toward me - always in a playful way. And I'm always satisfied.

Help Needed, Bebe's!

So. I'm having a little difficulty with my internet the past few weeks. It's oh so slowww. Eugh.
I'm trying to get the problem sorted, but in the meantime does anybody have any suggestions on how to upload images without using this one on blogger? I've tried Photobucket, but no. My desktop is almost flooded with pretty  imagery I want to share with you all!

Totally Obsessed With This Oscars Gown.

Like, so so badly!

So glad it was Australian Natalie Mark, girlfriend of Avatar star Sam Worthington that absolutely shone in this super glitzy, super structured and super stylish J'Aton Couture corset gown. I'm so in love with it, it's insane. Even though she's not an actress or has a celebrity status, I just hope that the dress gets the recognition it deserves.
I would kill to be wearing this J'Aton gown right now!

Another favourite of mine for the night was Miley Cyrus in a Jenny Packham gown. When I saw her on the E! Red Carpet show I wasn't too keen on the bodice, but after seeing a flood of images after the Award show I was completely taken away. It's so elegant, such a lovely colour and the sequence detail was just gorgeous. I think she looked flawless!
Thank goodness you impressed me, Miley. I had given up on you long ago.

I want an event to dress up in a stunning gown,
get my hair and make-up done and take a tonne of pictures!
If only...

Ps. Sam Worthington makes me laugh so much.
He's so Australian when he speaks.

I'm In MyLookBook!

I was featured in MyLookBook online magazine February edition.
I was so shocked when I received an email from Editor Krista Eppelstun asking me to fill out a number of questions based on my blog, fashion trends, personal style and my inspirations. It was such an honour and lovely to hear that she was a fan of my blog and that I would be featured in an issue. Although, I wish I hadn't left it so long to post this to you guys, seeing as the link is no long available/I can't find it now that the March issue is available online! Damn, damn, damn. But I was able to get a hold of the Q&A's that are on the MyLookBook website.

How long have you been Blogging For?
I’ve been blogging religiously since August 2009, I’d say. That’s when I really started picking it up - it became addictive almost straight away.

What inspired you to start your Blog?
I think really to begin with, it was simply my love for pretty imagery, amazing fashion and celebrity spotting that got me sharing my thoughts and inspirations in the first place. My Mac is always loaded with an enormous amount of photographs, so I felt it was time to share them. Plus, it’s a wonderful creative outlet for me.

Tell us a bit about yourself, what do you do when your not blogging?
I never know how to describe myself really; I find it rather awkward. All I can do is list a few words that I think represent me to a tee…
Lover. Summer. Fashion student. Pretty boys. Family. Dreams. Best friends.
When I’m not blogging I absolutely love going into the city in Melbourne (where I live); it’s my happy place. Shopping is always on the cards - any time, any place. Also, finding cute little cafes and sitting down to have lunch and a little gossip session with my best friends. That’s me in a nutshell!

How much time would you say that you spend writing & sourcing images for your blog each day?
A lot longer than I really should! I get completely hooked. Literally, there are days when I could spend a few hours resourcing and then putting together a few posts. There are days when I spend only a few minutes on one post and I’m done for the day. And then even day’s when I don’t post at all. It all depends on my mood and what I have to share. I’m a total perfectionist and in the words of Mary-Kate Olsen, “Everything I do has to be visually appealing to me”.

How would you describe the overall feeling of your Blog?
My blog is very much dedicated to my absolute love of fashion. It’s never short of being filled with pretty imagery. I love adding little cutesy quotes that I find represent my feelings and thoughts at the time of publication. I think it adds a little heart-felt something most young women would appeal to. But overall, if I had to choose one word to describe my blog, I’d choose: Blissful.

How would you describe your own personal style?
I definitely like to stay on-trend when adding to my wardrobe. But, then add my own little touches to reflect more of my own personal style. At the moment I’m a big fan of boyfriend blazers, soft short flowing dresses and finding the perfect denim shorts. Hello summer!

Favourite Aussie Designers/Labels or places to shop?
I completely adore Zimmermann and Bec & Bridge. They would have to me my number one(’s). Followed by, Alice McCall, Ellery, Maurie & Eve, Sass & Bide and Disney Couture jewellery. I mainly shop in the Melbourne CBD or shopping centres such as Chadstone and Doncaster for a bit of a variety.

What are you favourite trends this season?
Surprisingly, high-waisted hot pants are one of them. Ripped denim shorts, oversize tees/singlets, boyfriend blazers definitely – they are a staple wardrobe piece. I also like the Warrior trend at the moment, with that futuristic twist. Sass & Bide, Balmain, Balenciaga and even Alexander McQueen have done an amazing job of creating their own little futuristic warrior. It’s always changing for me.

Which Bloggers do you follow & are you inspired by?
One of the first blogs I ever looked at was Stockholm Street Style. I’m completely obsessed. I admire Caroline Blomst. I’m hooked on ‘Caroline’s Mode’; her sense of style is totally influential. I’m really into Swedish fashion, I think they really know what’s up, and so I follow Caroline Engman at Fashion Squad as well as Ida Rislöw at A Perfect Guide. Then there’s Knightcat, Le Fashion, Studded Hearts, Jak & Jil and The Satorialist that also feature high on my list.
Top 5 Websites you visit the most..
1. Bloglovin (www.bloglovin.com)
2. StockholmStreetStyle (stockholmstreetstyle.feber.se)
3. Fashionising.com (www.fashionising.com)
4. WeHeartIt (for inspiration and cute imagery)
5. StarStyleInc.com (www.starstyleinc.com)

It looked so pretty the way Krista put it all together. She used an image I had posted of Mary-Kate Olsen and a Mood Board that sits on my desk from a previous posts. If you happened to stumble across it, I hope you enjoyed it! And if you have any other questions you'd like to ask, go for it!! I'd be more than happy to answer them.
