The Row Presentation Fall 2012

The Fall 2012 presentation for The Row was every bit as chic and tailored as The Carlyle hotel, the venue it was held in. Tom Pechaux designed a makeup look inspired by Americana for The Row's Fall 2012 presentation: Channel the late Jacqueline Bisset Kennedy fresh, youthful & natural. Sunday Riley products were used to create the look which was great because that meant that I got to use that genius Effortless Tinted Primer again. I was also quite impressed by their Liquid Light foundation!  If necessary, brows were lightly groomed with neutral shadows depending on the girl, a light coat of mascara on the lashes, soft blush and a natural gloss swiped on the lips...

Makeup and Hair inspiration for Fall '12

OOOH! I spy Sunday Riley Effortless Breathable Tinted Primer ;-)
Another reason why I love this stuff so much is that I can apply it with my hands; It's the perfect link between the skincare in this line and the makeup line.

This collection, was BEYOND; the perfect mix of downtown cool girl chic meets uptown tailoring and luxury and the natural makeup and polished hair completed the aesthetic accordingly. I wish that I was able to snap pictures of some of the clothes which was a journey in luxurious textures:  rich fur (mink tops & panels on dresses), cashmere, leather, and sheers; great shapes, timeless clothes with a twist, but since the prep space was so small I couldn't...

Today was such an early day, so I'm going to sign off now and try to catch up on some rest. I'll see you guys at Ralph Lauren!

Helmut Lang F/W 2012

I started off my 2012 Fall Season of shows backstage at Helmut Lang with Lisa Butler keying the makeup. It's been a minute since I worked with Lisa, 2 seasons ago at BCBG to be exact so it was nice to be working with her again...

A selection of colors used in the look for the show

The look that  Lisa Butler designed for Helmut Lang featured bronze enhanced brows, soft fresh & transparent natural matte skin and fresh pink cheeks. A mixture of Sunday Riley Fools Gold & Twig eyeshadows were used in the brows to softly enhance and fatten them without adding depth. Skin was perfected with the barely there Effortless Breathable Tinted Primer (LOVING this product) and Blushing blush was applied almost directly under the eyes, closer to the inner part of the face, not blended outward onto the apples of the cheeks. The same blush was also smushed into lips giving a blurred edge to the mouth:

Going out with a bang...

...with Tom Pechaux at Ralph Lauren. Actually, this show is usually how I finish out my New York Fashion Week...

All of the big Girls walk this show...
Tom demo-ing his 'sunburned cowgirl' look on Cecilia...
The theme was sunburned cowgirls so the look that Tom created was fresh & minimal with a concentration of color on the cheeks that hinted at being slightly sunburned but warmed with just the tiniest bit of pink...

Max Azria Spring 2011

Yum, Yum & more Yum!!! From the makeup to the clothes. The makeup: Temptu's copper retouch highlighter shimmer on the eyes & cheek hollows to contour and pink pearl to highlight the face with a slight dash of coral/melon stain airbrushed onto the lip. Temptu Retouch foundation was used sparingly on the skin only where needed. I love the opportunity to give 'sheen' to a girl so the look that Lisa Butler created for this show was right up my alley.

Daria
...and Melanie...

Hair was again highly textured (appearing wet this time) and pulled back into a deliberately disheveled knot/bun...

Fei Fei came from DKNY sporting these nails...I thought they were beyond cool. Especially against her cobalt blue Chanel bag. The look for the Max Azria show was a nude manicure so I snapped a quick pick before the OPI nail team converged to change her nails over.

The clothes were also yummy. I always admire white and the people who can wear it effortlessly in the warmer Spring/ Summer months and have yet to find a way to do so for myself as I feel I look like an Ice Cream man. This collection however had me rethinking my phobia. I loved nearly all of the pieces in this collection; the shapes, structure and the deliberate back cutouts.

Daria liked her outfit (below)...and so did I. We had a discussion about it while I was doing her makeup...

By now you should be semi-familiar with my fashion week posts. In addition to the clothes and the makeup the backstage scene is so spontaneous and full of once in a lifetime moments. If I have time, I like to take a few captures:

Derek Lam Spring 2011

I was back with Tom Pechaux for another season and round of shows and kicked it off with on Derek Lam.

  Holy Shwag Bag!!!

I was greeted first by a bag of goodies from Estee Lauder (which was great as I was running low on several items like their foundations and their Sumptuous mascara that I feel in love with and have had a love affair with ever since last seasons round of shows)...and then by Tom :)

The hair look for the show...
(one of the first where I've seen the hair down, but still with texture blown into it...)

Tom demo-ing the look for the show...

He created a fun look with red eyeliner and a highlight of white shadow on the inner eye in the shape of a triangle that made everything pop. I love to do a nude lip and thankfully, thats how he finished off the look courtesy of a yummy shade by Estee Lauder called Vanilla Truffle (yet to be released to the masses). Brows were brushed into their natural positions.

The most beautiful boys in Bali...

...were not actually in Bali. They were at the Petrou Man Spring 2011 presentation at Soho House. Boys on the beach in Bali in the 50's was the inspiration for the 'grooming' for the show. Maki decided to make all the boys super matte on their faces, matching the darkest part of the face into an all over monochrome with hints of strategic sheen on the outer brow bones and cheekbones to mimic sweat....

Tomek, one of the Bali Boys on the Beach ;) Hes polish although everyone seemingly mistakes him for being Scandinavian...

The presentation was extremely cool. Held in the library of the building amongst wood paneling, books and coffee tables, the boys sat around and played boardgames and snacked on teacakes & macaroons:

I was uber fascinated by the accessorizing of this collection: flexible body braces that attached to different parts of the body so some of the boys looked like they were housed inside of little cages accessorized with everything from gum drops & nribbons to little lego men:

Connect 4 anyone???
